Do you dream of traveling, exploring other cultures or seeing sites you have only seen in history books? No matter what you income level, it does not have to be just a dream. Here is how you can cut back (just a little!) and save enough money to take that trip you think you cannot afford.
First, you have to cut back! Choose a cheaper choice (coffee sweetened with vanilla flavor, for example) to get your caffeine fix or make coffee at home and add a sweet flavored creamer. Eating out a lot? Pack your lunch for work, or just go to restaurants with a cheap lunch menu and save a few bucks. When you do eat out, ordering water instead of soda will save $2 to $3 dollars each meal. When you go to spend money, ask yourself if you would rather spend that money now or in New York City, Rome, Paris or London. Or where ever your dream trip is to.
Figure out how much it will cost. Go online and research how much transportation to and from will cost plus a hotel room (try to book them together, many travel sites offer steep discounts if you buy airfare and a hotel together). Add in spending money, usually between $50 and $100 per day, and divide the total amount by the number of days you have to save. For example: a one week trip to Rome, Italy for two people will cost roughly $3000 total. That means saving just $8.50 a day for one year. Do not keeping waiting for tomorrow! You can afford the trip of a lifetime if you put your mind to it.
