Greenfield, N.H., is a town of around 2,000 that is situated in Hillsborough County. The town was first settled in the mid-1700s and adopted the name “Greenfield” in 1791 as a nod to its fertile land.

Greenfield is home to a rehabilitation center that treats 2,000 patients annually who have physical or neurological disabilities. Crotched Mountain Rehab Center offers treatments including aquatic therapy, and the facility specializes in brain injury and spinal cord injury. Geographically speaking, Greenfield sits within the Merrimack River watershed. The highest point in town is North Pack Monadnock Mountain, with an elevation of 2,276 feet above sea level. The town’s general store, which opened in the late 1800s, is still standing, but is now known as Carbee’s Corner. Homemade crafts and penny candy can be purchased there.

Greenfield is a small town and as such, it maintains a strong sense of community. Monthly events are scheduled at which residents can socialize, among these are a family movie night, acting classes and story time for children. Greenfield’s location an hour from Boston makes it an ideal place for those who like to live in a smaller town but don’t mind going to a big city for work or for entertainment.
